UAE orders WCMD tail kits

September 10, 2003 (by Lieven Dewitte) - The United Arab Emirates has ordered 354 Wind Corrected Munitions Dispenser tail kits for its planned fleet of F-16 Block 60s.
The U.S. Defense Department has awarded a $63.7 million contract to Lockheed Martin Corp. Missiles and Fire Control Systems for the supply of Wind Corrected Munitions Dispenser tail kits to the UAE and other clients.

Under the contract, Lockheed Martin will supply 354 tail kits to the UAE air force. The contract is expected to be completed by May 2005.

Abu Dhabi has ordered 80 F-16s in a $6.4 billion purchase. The first F-16s are expected in early 2004.
