Dutch F-16 pilot strikes cable in Arizona

February 14, 2018 (by Lieven Dewitte) - Last Sunday a Dutch F-16 fighter pilot flew his jet into an overhead cable on a training exercise in Arizona. The pilot was unharmed and able to land safely, but the aircraft (F-16BM J-369) was ‘severely damaged’ in the incident.

RNlAF F-16BM #J-369 from 313 sqn with it's old Springfield (Ohio) yellow/red fin tip colors comes into land at Volkel AB after a weekend trip on April 4th, 2011.

The pilot was part of an F-16 division carrying out training flights at the Netherlands Detachment in Tucson, Arizona.

National Guard officials say the incident occurred about 10.00h Sunday near Black Canyon City, which is about 60 miles north of Phoenix.They say the aircraft arrived safely at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.


The 162nd Fighter Wing in Arizona is a full-time international F-16 pilot training unit.
