Asian woes may delay deliveries in F-16 contract

February 24, 1998 (by Lieven Dewitte) - Asia's economic turmoil could force Lockheed Martin and partner Samsung Aerospace to delay the first deliveries in a $2 billion South Korean government-backed contract to build the F-16 fighter for the South Korean air force.
The partners may push planned completion of the project's development phase back "a little bit" beyond 2005. Other Asian nations, including Japan, which is taking the F-2 fighter, may also see a "slight stretch-out" in deliveries.
