June 15, 2008 (by Asif Shamim) - The Dutch Ministry of Defence announced via its website that one if its F-16s sustained damage to its landing gear during a take-off from Kandahar airfield.

from 323 Sqn aborted its take-off and was slowed to halt by the airfields emergency arresting barrier system. The pilot remained with the aircraft and was unhurt in the incident.

operations in Afghanistan. The F-16 was departing for a sortie to support troops in the South of the country.
An accident enquiry board will check the damage and reasons behind the failure.
