Luke F-16D crashes on training range

December 4, 2006 (by Jon Somerville) - USAF F-16D from Luke AFB, Arizona crashed early Monday morning just east of Highway 85 on the Barry M. Goldwater Range. Both crew reported ejected safely.

USAF F-16D block 25 #84-1319 from the 62nd FS which is thought to be the aircraft lost.

All this comes on the heels of the loss of Luke AFB pilot Major Troy L. Gilbert. However this aircraft was from the 62nd Fighter Squadron.

The F-16D was on a training flight with an instructor and a student pilot. Time of loss has been said to be around 08.30h local time.

An accident investigation team has already been established.
