Portugal to sell 12 of its 40 F-16s

June 15, 2006 (by Rafael Henriques) - The Portuguese government will sell 12 F-16's, and some other defense equipment like Puma and Alouette II helicopters.

For all this equipment Portugal hopes to receive 290 million euros.

Of the actual 40 Portuguese Air Force (PoAF) F-16s (two units with 20 F-16s each), Portugal wishes to keep only 28 F-16's (two units with 14 F-16's each).

Before the F-16 go to the market they will receive the Mid-life Update (MLU).
