August 31, 1998 (by Lieven Dewitte) - About 700 US block 40 and block 50 F-16s will be modified under the Common Configuration Implementation Program. CCIP will bring the aircraft to production Block 50 standard, which will enhance reliability and increase operational versatility.
Modifications include Modular Mission Computers (MMC), new software, color displays, digital terrain following, Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS), and Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS), several of which are already incorporated in the MLU.

Total contract value is around USD $1 billion, with first flight scheduled for 2001 and final delivery for 2005.
