F-16s not to participate in Aero India show

January 13, 2005 (by Lieven Dewitte) - The fifth edition of India's premier aviation event 'Aero India 2005' may have lost a bit of its military star value with US F-16 fighters, touted as the star attraction for the event, not likely to participate.
The US participation in 'Aero India 2005', despite being the best to date, will not include flying or static displays of the F-16 jet fighter, said Indian Air Force officials involved with organisation of the event.

Live and static displays of US military aircraft will now be restricted to the F-15E Eagle, the C-130J Hercules and the maritime P-3C Orion.

It could still change at the very last moment but as it looks now, the F-16 is not coming.

For local military aviation buffs, the news is a bit of a letdown because they were looking forward to compare the performance of the F-16s with its arch-rivals the Sukhoi-30 MKI and the MiG-29 - both of which are used by the IAF.
