20th FW at Shaw to get new commander

June 19, 2004 (by Eric L. Palmer) - Veteran F-16 pilot Col. Philip Ruhlman is due to take up command of the 20th Fighter Wing at Shaw Air Force Base on June 24.
He takes over from Col. SAM Angelella, who is being transferred to the Supreme Headquarters of Allied Powers in Europe (SHAPE), which is located near Brussels, Belgium. Ruhlman comes to Shaw from Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii, where he was the assistant commander of air and space operations for the Pacific Air Forces.

About 6,000 airmen and 1,000 civilians work at Shaw, home to the 9th Air Force, which directs air operations in the Persian Gulf.
