My first assignment was WPAFB OH with the F-15 SPO 1981-1985, I then PCS'd to Hahn AB Ge. where I crewed Block15's then we transferred to block25's.I was the very first DCC on 85-1411 (Skipso v) Driver was Craig "Skip" Wilkerson she had 18 hours on her when I rec'd her. Took High Flyer for bombers on her first deployment to ZAB Sp. I was at Hahn from 1985-1988 then I PCS'd to Langley Va where I crewed the F-15 in the 94th(Eddie Richenbacher's Hat in the ring Sq.) I was at Langley from 1988-1992 where I was discharged. I was assigned to the 401'st ABDR Unit at WPAFB Oh. from 1993-1997 with the Reserves then I transferred to the 93rd FS at homestead ARB Fl. where I became an ART crewing 88-0406 from 1997-May 2008. I just transferred to Pope NC. and am in the process of cross training to heavies due to changes in my family life. I am currently the NCOIC (small shop supervisor) of Dash 21 and CTK. Current or Favourite assignmentThe 10th TFS kicked Ass, took names and was second to none!!! The morale of the people was Phenomenal for such a high ops tempo and the stress we endured. I remember many a deployment where we pumped out 100 + sorties a day with 18 acft every day of the week without hot pits. The German wine was awesome and there was no better entertainment than wine fests.Bitte Ein Bit DeploymentsI have ran out of room with 27 plus years of memories to put everything. I just wanted to pass on to the younger troops. dont ever let your guard down. this awesome machine has one intent & thats to take lives. She can not differentiate friend or foe. I talked to two drivers as they stepped to their jets and one driver I knew pretty well. You guys paid the ultimate price God rest your souls Capt Glenn "Dupy" Dupius Turkey Oct 1985 Maj Tom "Gumby" Carr Florida Sept 1998 Maj Sammy "Dego" Diangelo Florida Jul 1999 I Miss you all and the great times we shared I wish I could have said good bye. Now Stinky & Splash you know why I hug you two every chance I see you guys. |

I was the very first crew chief assigned to her; she had 18 hours on the airframe with a new jet smell. Pilot was Capt. Craig "Skip" Wilkerson and the nose art was Skipso V after his Grandfather who flew I-IV. I rec'd a back seat ride in 84-1331, talk about a great ride; we pulled 8.1-8.9 G's 6 times before we hit 9.3 G's flying over spain and logging a 1.2 mission. Thanks 1st Lt. Clint "Weed Hopper" Bennet for the awesome ride. Skip was the first officer to reenlist me; what an outstanding and personable guy. Thanks Skip for being my friend.

Had a great time being a "Mako" enjoyed great deployments, TDY's Etc. Loved the weather and personnel more than anything else. I was the OG Commanders Crew Dawg from 2000 to 2007 with Col's Derrik"Cowboy" Rydholm and Scott "Foot" Goodfellow this was only suppose to be a 2 year assignment but no one could dethrone me. Finally I was removed from OG Commitment and picked up Lt. Col. Dave "Chewy" Chaney what an outstanding guy. Couldn't ask for a nicer pilot. Thanks Chewy for the Flag and everything else but especially for being my friend. All of Homesteads Driver's were the best I had seen in a long time.

I'm a small shop chief and NCOIC of Dash 21 & CTK. I'm learning the way Heavy's operate versus Fighter's and it's day and night. But it is a fun experience to say the least. |

I feel the same way about Happy Hahn, was there from 1982 to 1985 Blue zoo (10th TFS)..loved every minute of that assignment too.
Best of luck to you

You probably don't remember me. I was the one who chased you down after a tow job on your last day of work. When we threw you threw the ice in that rather large puddle I thought you were going to die. Great times!!

Les, I was in the 10th AMU from 1986 - 1988. Sounds like we were there at the same time. When I first got there I reported to Capt Wagner and later replaced him as OIC. As I start to look back I'm remember names I've forgotten for many years! Best of luck to you.

You don't know me, but I too was at Hahn when you were there. I was in the 496th down the road. I gotta say that Hahn was by far my favorite assignment too. Great people, great planes, great times and Outstanding wine and winefests.
Its good to see I was'nt the only one there that enjoyed himself in what little off time we had.(at least they said I enjoyed it)
Take care sir.

Yeah I remember when we threw you in the ditch on your last day. Your reaction to that frozen, icy water was a little scary. I'm now working Civil Service at the "Boneyard" at Davis-Monthan in Tucson. Many of the F-16's that are coming in right now were the ones we had in Germany. I haven't seen your old jet come through yet, but probably soon.
