I am a retired MSgt who served in the USAF for 26 years...My assignments included Williams AFB, AZ from 1980 - 1982 working T-37 aircraft, then from 1982 through 1986 I was stationed at RAF Lakenheath and crewed the Awesome F-111F, I was involved in the raid on Libya in 1986 (Operation Eldorado Canyon). From 1986 through 1989 I was assigned to Nellis AFB, NV, this is where I was introduced to the F-16...I was in the 474th FW until it dactivated in 1989, then I was assigned to Kunsan AB, ROK, 80th FS, did two years there (Loved the TDYs to the PI), after Korea I was stationed at Misawa AB Japan, started working there on block 30s, then we converted to block 50s...was at Misawa from 1991 - 1997, then was assigned to Luke AFB until 1999, working with the Taiwan Air Force in the 21st FS, then got assignment back to Kunsan AB Korea, got back from Korea in 2000, came back to Luke AFB where I worked in the 61st and the 56MXG until retirement...Retired in 2006, now I am a civilian Contractor working with Taiwan again in the 21st FS at Luke... |

Cool to see that patch was still used, I developed that patch myself back in 1981 when we (429th) first got the F-16. Nice to see the squadron kept it all these years...

Checking to see if you are the same Mark Edwards that worked in the 495th "Green Section" at the Heath? The Mark Edwards I worked with at the Heath lived...if memory serves me....out towards Bury St. Edmunds? I was the Crew Dawg on 1446 with Bruce Edge. I was at Lakenheath from Jan. '84 - '88. We had an awesome crew at that time.....TSGT Keith "Hoppy" Hopkins, Dale Butler, Mark Danforth, Mark McGinnues, Henry Koch and so many others that all I can see are their faces!
If this is YOU, then it is ironic to see that you were also a "Top Dawg" with the 61st! After the Heath, I spent '88 -'90 at MacDill AFB working in the 61st! I was there about 5 months when the block 30's came in!! I was the first Crew Chief on 87-0349!
Keep 'em flying!
