I guess you can just call me a DoD - all services - aircraft herder.

Current or Favourite assignment

Ahh, the 389th FS. What a unit! It had it's little problems just like anyplace but there was something special about the 16's there. We were the only active duty combat unit to fly Block 52's with the P-dub -229's. Of course the unit is in the process of being disbanded right now but, I will always look back on my time with the T-bolts with fond memories.

Deployments

Nothing too special...

PSAB OSW May - Sept 02
OSAN/Kadena May - Sept 04

Plus the all too common trips to Tyndall, Eglin, Nellis, Coldlake, etc...

Although no personnel from the 389th went to support OIF in the opening months of the war a few of our jets did go. The 389th and the Swamp Foxes out of SC were both in the middle of the CCIP upgrade. Well, the Swampfoxes got the call to go and wanted to take all CCIP modded 16's so, they borrowed some of the 389th, mine included. We were in the middle of a phase 2 exercise in an alarm red mopp4 when suddenly all clear was called and the exercise ENDEX'ed. Upper leadership told us to Gen up, I believe 6 total, for the SC guard! What a way to end an exercise!!

Crewed this jet while the 389th had it from the SC guard. See related story from my other jet.
Unit 362nd Training Squadron, Sheppard AFB
Period 2005 - 2009
Stories relating to the stupidity 2A313 trainees could go on forever. While working the line I used to wonder how (insert douchebag's name) made it through tech school. After a while it became clear that compared to the ones that were "let go," Airman Douchebag wasn't so bad after all!
Unit Transient Alert, Kadena AB - Okinawa
Period 2009 -
I've had exposure to a whole other Air Force working here and it's been a great experience thus far. I've worked everything from C-12's to C-5's and learned a ton about how the "Heavy's" conduct business. General airfield ops exposure and working with foreign military/govts has been a nice change of pace.
