I am a CrewDawg...always was and always will be. I am proud of the time I crewed. I never launched an unsafe aircraft, and every one came back. My scarred hands, bad hearing, trick back and disintegrated knees, I take in stride, because what I did made a difference. God bless each and ever crewchief out there…you have a great job…enjoy it.

Current or Favourite assignment

I have been a lot of things…a Top Dawg, a Dragon, a Flying Tiger, a Juvat. But the 421st FS Black Widows was the best all around group of guys and gals I have ever worked with. We just kicked ass and didn't care about the names.

Deployments

Heck, some deployments you could have a beer after your 12 hour shift...most that you couldn't.

Became the Wing Crew Chief and was asked what jet I wanted (We got some newer aircraft in) and I picked her. Me and my ADCC (Mike Boschker) designed the Wing Tail Flash (Blue and Gold Lightning Bolt) and actually had to tape it out on the tail in the paint barn because the civilian paint shop guys couldn't get the dimensions right. My favorite jet by far.
88429 [Detailed history of this F-16]
Unit 74th Fighter Squadron "Flying Tigers" [Unit History]
Period 1993 - 1995
Current: 88429   USAF 8 FS F-16C Block 40 [ act]
You ever have a jet just kick your ass right out of the gate...It took some time to show this one who was boss. The first time I went out to launch her the F1 fuel cell went tango uniform and pissed all over the ramp. When that got fixed, the next launch…my second attempt to get her in the air, the fuel line going to the A1 tank took a dump…hence she was affectionately forever know as “Puddles”. My last jet I ever crewed.

Hey Kevin! How on earth are you!? I see you marched right up the ranks as was expected. I retired in 2000 while stationed at Barksdale. Had a job waiting for me at Kirtland AFB, NM on UH-1Ns and UH-60's as one of the engine mechs. Go figure. Did that for 4 years, went into diesel mechanics for a couple years and now I'm back in the helo world up in Alaska working on MD500's in the middle of nowhere! Good money but being away from home in NM is hard. I thought those days were over when I retired! Not!

Anyway, shoot me and email and let me know what's been going on and if you know where the rest of the gang from Ramstein ended up.

Talk at you later.

Connie
