Current or Favourite assignment

The 496th Fighter Squadron was a very special assignment. I was always told to "go overseas" and I finally did and really loved the assignment. The group I was in, was a very close flight, "A" flight.
We were a bunch of comedians, at least I thought so. We really shared a great deal of comraderee. I can still remember a bunch of names Kegler, Yates, Lewis, Foster, Bonser, Kitchell, Beffort, Walsh, Williams, Sapp, Clark, D. Smith, Earnheardt, Larson, if I left anyone out sorry!

Deployments

Went to Incerlik once in 89, saw Zaragosa a couple of times, once in 89 and in 90. And went on a really long one in the Middle East for 5 months............Shawbu Dhabi.

I believe I was the only crew chief to have his pilots' nickname painted on the canopy rail of his airplane. "Snakeye Lecraw" for Capt. Chris Lecraw.........got a case of Heineken for the job! Gold section was a lot different than the other two in that our taxi ways were on hills, I thought the layout was pretty cool!
