First flight on July 6th, 2010 with Bill Gigliotti being the pilot. Nicknamed "Angry Bird". First pilot to reach the 1,000 hours milestone on the F-35 did so in this aircraft. After flying the F-35 for eight years, Lockheed Martin test pilot David “Doc” Nelson became the first pilot to achieve 1,000 flight hours in the F-35 on a test flight January 6th, 2017.
