Blue and white markings were applied to the tail. Within the tailband was the word "Champions". Most eye catching was a large blue horse shoe which was painted on the tail. Special markings were added to mark the Colts Super Bowl XLI victory, the local NFL team. Most of the markings were placed on the aircraft during the last week of May but the last marking was applied on August 1, 2007.

Each year, the NATO "Tiger Meet" gives member nations an opportunity to train together in simulated battle over the skies of Europe. 2001 marked the inaugural "Tiger Meet of the Americas", hosted by the "Cougars" of the 120th Fighter Squadron, Colorado Air National Guard and taking place at Buckley AFB. Heading up the "home team" was F-16C serial number 87-0241, adorned with a striking all over tiger-stripe paint scheme and bearing the phrase "Each Fights like a Tiger" on its fin.
