55-0022 nc-130A

Are you sure this is 55-0022? I think it might be 85-0022, cn 5067. The plane shown with the retractable turret sure ha features of the "H" model. No doors on GTC, Outflow valve in center of aaft cargo door, instead of the left side., No HF wire antennas. Squadron is right, tail # may be wrong.

Yes, this really is the 1956 delivered aircraft. It was simultaneously the youngest and oldest Herc that I've flown when I served as the co-pilot for the delivery flight from Reading, PA where the sensor turret was installed, back to Wright-Patterson on 12 Dec 86. With its history in flight test, 0022 had under 10000 airframe hours despite its chronological age. That delivery flight was the next to last A model operation at the 4950th TW. Its last was the transfer flight to Duke Field, FL.
