The best assignment ever was completely ruined by the BRAC. They shipped off all of the real aircraft (F-16's) and brought in more old decrepit piece of crap aircraft (F-15's) and completely screwed it all up. Other than that Mountain Home is a great place to live. Still own my house there and plan on returning when I'm done with the Air Force. ie; if/when I drop some balls and get out. Who knows when the hell that'll be. I worked in the transfer dock at the 389th there while we were sending our aircraft to their new permanent homes. It was a very interesting few months. I got to do a lot of things on the jet that just hadn't otherwise popped up earlier in my career. It was fun. I really hated to send those jets away though. It was after the F-15 guys started showing up to accept F-15's into the 389th that I learned, that F-15 Crew Chiefs are nothing more than glorified gas station attendants. Kinda like F-16 day shifters, but dumber. Oh and @#$% Cannon.
