Anything and Everything you would want to learn about fuel spills was learned on this jet...I think we trained the Fire Dept on ground Emergency's with fuel spills; my crew chief Kevin called this pig Puddles....I worked mids servicing crew for a year and when I came off that shift I requested to work swing shift...My first night on shift he handed me the key's to 429...and said "it's yours I've worked it lomg enough"
You ever have a jet just kick your ass right out of the gate...It took some time to show this one who was boss. The first time I went out to launch her the F1 fuel cell went tango uniform and pissed all over the ramp. When that got fixed, the next launch…my second attempt to get her in the air, the fuel line going to the A1 tank took a dump…hence she was affectionately forever know as “Puddles”. My last jet I ever crewed.
