The aircraft crashed around 10:15 hours local about 35 miles east of Marathon, Florida. It was determined by the AIB that the crash was caused by pilot error. A speed that was too low with a shifting center of gravity forced the jet out of control. The pilot, Maj. Timothy B. Piccin, ejected safely.

turned it into the MXG jet and shared it with the group commander, the now General Davis. She was a code one flying beautifully tailored and uniquely customized bird. and then some random zippered suited wannabe sun god crashed it cause he didn't know how to fly. he lost control of the D model with a centreline tank after refuelling... he fought all the way till he punched out... immediately upon exiting the acft, she began to level out and fly right... it's rumoured she landed in the water with the gear down and still awaits a canopy, seat, and a splash of fuel for her next sortie
